Snow Drabble 2

Remus aimed a series snowballs at James. But James dove out of the way just in time and, instead, grabbed Peter's scarf. He pulled the blond haired boy into the line of fire and Remus' snowballs hit Peter. And, after using Peter as a shield, James retaliated with snowballs, hitting Remus in the face. Remus doubled over with laughter.

Sirius' gaze traveled from his three friends to a group of Ravenclaw girls making a snowwitch and then over to a few Slytherins who were poking at the ice on the lake to see if the Giant Squid would punch its way through to the surface.

Shivering from cold and jealousy, Sirius crossed his arms over his chest. He frowned as his warm breath fogged up his dormitory room window. He took a step back, not quite being able to see the other students so well now.

His chest filled with air and he let it out with a shaky breath. His nose twitched, and he reached into his pocket for a tissue or a handkerchief or something. He found some lint but not much more. So he simply turned his head to the side and sneezed freely. "hurChahhh! hehhChuhhh!"

"You really should cover your mouth when you do that."

Sirius looked back, glanced out the window to double-check, then looked back again. "Thought you were outside id a sdowball fight."

"I was," Remus agreed, pulling his hat and gloves off. "But James and Peter practically ganged up on me. The only thing I could do was retreat to lick my wounds."

     "hehhhCHAH!"

"Or yours. Padfoot, you sound awful. Has your cold somehow gotten worse since I left a whole..." He checked his watch. "Forty-three minutes ago?"

Sirius shrugged, sniffled strongly, then gave another shaky breath. This time when he started to sneeze, he raised his arm and buried his nose in the crook of his elbow. "hhhhChmphh!" He sniffed again and lowered his arm, looking at Remus for approval.

Remus nodded and walked over to Sirius. He stripped off his gloves, scarf, and cloak as he walked. "So, tell me, why aren't you in bed?"

Shrugging again, he looked out the window. "I wadted to watch the sdow."

Remus wrapped his arms around Sirius from behind to keep him warm. He looked outside at the falling snow. The flakes were large and soft, floating steadily but landing beautifully on everything and everyone outside.

"Wish I could be out id it with everybody else."

Remus hugged Sirius more tightly. "No you don't. It's freezing cold and wet out there. Much nicer in here where it's warm and the beds are warm and snuggly."

     "Sduggle with be?"

"Hmm," said Remus thoughtfully. "Are you going to cover your nose when you feel a sneeze coming on?" Sirius clapped a hand to his heart in a pledge. "All right," he agreed. He pulled Sirius over to the bed, keeping the hangings tied up so they could still watch the snow fall out the window.
